Engaged Music Theory

I am a co-founder of Engaged Music Theory, a working group that aims to encourage music scholars to engage directly with issues of cultural politics—race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, intersectionality, decolonization, and disability—in their research and teaching.

Our current projects include a searchable bibliography, a blog series, and a publication mentorship program.

Collaborative Song Dataset (CoSoD)

Along with Kate Mancey and Johanna Devaney, I assembled a corpus of 331 multi-artist collaborations from the 2010-2019 Billboard “Hot 100” year-end charts. The corpus is annotated with formal sections, aspects of vocal production (including reverberation, layering, panning, and gender of the performers), and relevant metadata.

The dataset can be accessed here.
